See you at the bitter end.

:bulletred: 37. Broken
:bulletred: Work in progress: [link] [link]
The extensive masking didn't allow me to scan any further, and I took it all off nearly at the end.

size:30x40 cm
medium W&N watercolours, colourful inks for lineart, serious amount of masking fluid for the broken glass effect, a bit of salt.
Required equal amount of drawing and painting, hence the 'mixed media' category.

stock: [link] this is one of my own. I'm not very good at realistic drawing. I get distracted easily and end up not paying much attention to what it should look like. It's safe to say the creation here is based on the photo. I fucked it up on so many levels it's actually kind of hard to look at.

Love the composition. It's nice to see art where it isn't just the person in the center with nothing around them. (*cough* like mine) And the symbols in the background intrigue me. <3

I have a bit of constructive criticism, though, the angle of the head seems off. And by that I mean it feels like you used photoshop, grabbed the chin, and dragged it to the left a little bit. I feel like it should be more to the right, directly underneath the nose.

You're so great at painting hair. :worship:

No need, lol. Have a look at the stock photo I linked. I fucked it up in so many ways I found it pointless to list mistakes. You are right. But no photoshop was used. That's just be, ruining perfectly good sketch.

Someone told me once it's called 'negative space'. Always happy to learn new artist's term :)

I like the strong colors you've used, they enhance the emotion behind the work! The contrast of the broken, linear glass and the motion of all the other things emphasizes the expression too.

Back in 2005 I made one of your works as favourite, and you asked me for some artwork... well, I've just released one ^^

Thank you for your comment.
Oh wow, did I really! You must have excellent memory, OR you haven't been around for 7 years. Either way, glad you're still here. I just saw your 2 works. It's finally time to say 'welcome to deviantART' :)

Thank you. Although it breaks my heart when I see it.
Everybody should post work in progress, this is how we learn! I'd kill so see walkthroughs of some of my favourites. ~puimun sells whole books with those, which is absolutely awesome and I'd recommend them to anyone.
